OP green thumb challenge — share your garden or plants!

April is Earth Month — the perfect time to show off your efforts in connecting with the natural world. Show off your green thumb by emailing a photo of your garden or houseplants to Link@ucop.edu. Please include a short description of your photo, along with your title at UCOP. Horizontal/landscape-orientation images look best.

Plus, join UCOP’s Sustainability team in participating in fun virtual events throughout the month of April.

Sustainability for OP and You
Tuesday, April 21, or Thursday, April 30, 12-1 p.m.

In this new online course by UCOP Learning and Development and UC Sustainability, you’ll be empowered to incorporate sustainability into your life by reducing your carbon footprint, producing less waste, saving water, having a greener commute and more. Plus, learn more about the UC Sustainability goals and what you can do to support them. Register at the UC Learning Center.

Lunchtime Film Discussion: Tomorrow
Friday, April 24, 11:30-12:30 p.m.

Join Sustainability Reporting and Outreach Fellow Carolyn Burch for a virtual lunchtime discussion of the film, “Tomorrow.” Kid-friendly for ages 10+, this fast-paced documentary profiles people with concrete solutions for moving away from fossil fuels and protecting the environment. Watch the film in advance (free online here) and come prepared to share your thoughts.

Energy and Sustainability Team: Virtual Office Hours

April is Earth Month! Celebrate by joining Operations Coordinator and UCOP Sustainability Lead Christian Laspada and Sustainability Reporting and Outreach Fellow Carolyn Burch for an interactive virtual question and answer session about all topics related to sustainability, environment and climate.   • The Earth Day Eco-Challenge helps you put your Earth Day intentions into action by providing you with the information, motivation tools and community to make a difference for our planet Earth.
  • Seuss’s “The Lorax” is a great environmental film for family members of all ages. The 1972 animated TV special is available to watch free on
  • The Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital (DCEFF) is the world’s premier showcase of environmentally themed films. This year, many of the Festival films are available online and through streaming platforms.
