Dennis McIver spent 2023 growing his knowledge and inspiring others
Dennis McIver, program manager for the Office of Workplace Inclusion and Belonging has a long history of supporting and advocating for UC staff (for more on his history, read this Staff Snapshot). This year, he continued this tradition — all while pursuing his doctorate!
“Over the year, I had a chance to present on several topics around and outside of UC. This included the UC Black Administrators Council (UC BAC) conference; virtually, at UC Riverside; and at the Academy of Management Conference,” Dennis says.
“In February, the UC BAC named me the inaugural recipient of the Walter A. Robinson Excellence in Service Award. In June, I concluded my term as Chair of the Council of UC Staff Assemblies. Interested staff can check out the workgroup reports and our July presentation before the Board of Regents, as well as my January address. And, in November, I moderated the UCOP Town Hall with President Drake, which was very enjoyable.
“This month, I concluded my coursework for my doctoral studies. I anticipate defending my dissertation next spring. Its focus is leadership development through higher-ed employee resource groups,” Dennis says.
