Join PARRA for an Oakland new retiree reception

PARRA members at a social hour in North Berkeley in December 2023.

PARRA members attend a social hour in North Berkeley in December 2023.

If you’re planning to retire in June — or thinking of retiring in the next several years, now is a great time to connect with members of the President’s and Regents’ Retiree Association (PARRA).

On Thursday, June 13, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., prospective retirees are invited to an informal reception with PARRA members in Lobby 1 of the Oakland Franklin building. Learn more about PARRA, meet members and find out how to get involved!

Why should I get involved with PARRA?

  • Stay Informed about issues important to retirees
PARRA provides information throughout the year about benefits, health care and activities that are of particular interest to retirees.
  • Connect with like-minded people
As UCOP employees, PARRA members pride themselves on dedicating their talents to a mission-focused career. By connecting with PARRA, you’ll meet others who share your passions for public service, education, diversity and other UC values.
  • Build your social network
Retirement is a huge life transition, and it can be hard to lose the social connections and support you’re used to having at work. PARRA provides an opportunity to continue existing and establish new connections through social and volunteering events.
  • Get exclusive access to fascinating speakers
Each spring and fall, PARRA hosts a member luncheon that features interesting and noted speakers. Recent events have featured President Drake and Dean Erwin Chemerinsky of Berkeley Law.
  • Continue learning
PARRA members also have access to resources through the Berkeley Retirement Center. This includes the Learning in Retirement Program, which provides access to free online courses in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, arts and other fields.
  • Give back
PARRA members host volunteer opportunities within the Bay Area throughout the year. Most recently, they helped out at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

How can I learn more about PARRA?

Attend the reception to meet and chat with PARRA members and leaders in person! Visit the PARRA website for more association details and to access the PARRA Network News. For questions, contact PARRA President Jim Dolgonas.

This event is co-sponsored by PARRA and UCOP Human Resources.
