The seventh chancellor of UC San Diego and the first woman to be appointed as permanent chancellor, Fox will step down as chancellor in June 2012 to return to teaching and research as a distinguished professor of chemistry at the university.

Another tuition increase to offset cuts in state funding will be among several options presented to the UC Board of Regents at their upcoming July 12–14 meeting in San Francisco.
