Fourteen UC members have been elected to the Institute of Medicine, one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine. They join 65 new members, five foreign associates and more than 200 UC-affiliated members who have been named since 1970.

Lawrence Berkeley Lab researcher Saul Perlmutter has won the Nobel Prize for physics for his work with the Supernova Cosmology Project. He is the 57th University of California researcher to win a Nobel Prize.
