UCOP Project Management II (Session 1 of 3)

This is a three-part series, Project Management Level II, led by The Center for Project Management.

This workshop series emphasizes traditional project management techniques that are highly relevant to the UC project environment with practical tools, methods and techniques for immediate application in your work environment. Agile project management techniques designed to support highly iterative software development projects is not the focus of this series, and professionals seeking highly iterative agile project management techniques will also find practical value in the content of this series.

Session 1 Objectives

  • Review and reflect on the project management foundations series
  • Learn techniques to lead a thriving project team
  • Learn how to establish a project’s priorities
  • Build skills and learn a process to manage project change control

Session 2 Objectives

  • Learn how to assess and manage project complexity
  • Learn techniques to lead a thriving project team
  • Learn how to practice a methodology to identify, prioritize, plan and manage project risks
  • Learn tools and techniques for planning and managing project quality

Session 3 Objectives

  • Explore a framework for anticipating and managing the organizational change of implementing a project
  • Build skills in activating leaders to champion your project
  • Learn how to build a project communication plan and effectively engage project stakeholders throughout a project

Prerequisite: Completion of Project Management 1, or previous PM experience
*This is a 3 part course and it is highly recommended that you attend each session as materials and curriculum will build on the prior sessions work.
