Oakland garage parking guidelines
If you park in UCOP’s Oakland garage, it’s important that you follow our parking lot guidelines — they’re in place to keep our garage accessible, safe and clean for all members of the UCOP community. Please be respectful of your colleagues by treating the parking areas with the same care that you approach other spaces in our buildings.
As a reminder: If you choose to park at UCOP, you must follow all state vehicle codes, obey posted signs and follow the rules outlined below. If you’re in violation of any of these terms, you may lose your parking pass without a refund, and you may also be responsible for additional fees.
Parking lot dos
- Double-check to make sure you’re parked within the lines of your parking space. If your car is taking up more than one space, you may have to pay an additional fee.
- Maintain a UCOP Parking Participant Contract that represents your current vehicle and needs. If you switch from a motorcycle to a car, you must submit an updated, electronically signed copy of your contract to the Work Management Center (WMC), including the make, model and license plate.
- If you need an accessible parking space, get approval. To sign up for an accessible space, update your parking contract with the WMC, wait to receive WMC approval, and then display the UCOP authorization in your vehicle.
- Maintain current registration and insurance for all vehicles parked in UCOP-managed
- Secure your parking access If your card is lost or stolen, report it to the WMC immediately. (Note: your first replacement access card is complimentary; additional cards are $10 each.)
- Always use your parking access card when you enter or exit the garage. If the gate stays open after the car in front of you has pulled ahead, wait for it to close, then use your card. If you don’t use it in an entrance/exit sequence, you may be locked out and unable to enter or leave.
- Get permission before parking overnight. If you need overnight parking due to an unusual situation, contact the WMC with an approved business justification from your manager.
- Park only one vehicle per day. Using your pass to park multiple vehicles in the garage is not allowed.
- Report accidents immediately. If an accident occurs in the garage involving vehicle damage or personal injury, report it to the police by calling 911 and contact the Building Administrative Services Center (BASC) at (510) 987-0600.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behavior. Contact the BASC immediately by phone or email services@ucop.edu.
- Pick up after yourself. Help keep the garage pleasant by throwing away your trash properly.
- Drive slowly and safely. Stay under 5 miles per hour and avoid any maneuvers that could be considered reckless.
