UCOP signs lease for new building at 1100 Broadway
After lengthy and detailed study of how to reduce facility costs and improve operational efficiency within the organization, UCOP has signed a lease for a building to be constructed at 1100 Broadway (currently a vacant lot). The building is expected to become available for move-in by late 2019 or early 2020.
1111 Franklin will remain the headquarters of UCOP and the two adjacent buildings will be connected at the lobby and fifth floor roof garden levels. Other UCOP offices in Oakland will be consolidated into the new building, facilitating closer staff collaboration and sharing of resources. This move will also provide stability of facility and operational costs for UCOP for many years to come.
Preliminary planning and design will begin shortly and input from departments will be solicited later this year. As the development process unfolds, we will continue to update you on this exciting new move for UCOP.
