ERIT time-reduction program now open for enrollment
In an effort to address the budget deficit facing the University and to minimize possible layoffs, UCOP is offering UC’s new Employee-initiated Reduction in Time (ERIT) program for eligible career staff.
ERIT is a temporary, voluntary program in which eligible employees may, with the approval of their supervisor and department head, reduce their working hours and corresponding pay between 5 and 50 percent.
ERIT participants, who must remain on pay status at least 50 percent of full-time each month while on ERIT, continue to accrue vacation and sick leave at their pre-ERIT accrual rate.
Employees may begin signing up for ERIT now; the program will be in effect from July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2012. All career staff, except Senior Management Group members, are eligible to participate. Participation by represented employees is dependent on agreement with the applicable union.
To enroll in ERIT, complete the contract (available in PDF on the At Your Service website at http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/employees/policies_employee_labor_relations/erit/erit_contract.pdf), get signature approval from your supervisor, and submit the contract to your HR Business Partner. HR will work with BRC payroll to set up time and pay changes.
