Volunteers needed Friday! Help plant a schoolyard garden

UCOP Cares needs a few more volunteers Friday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to help plant a vegetable garden at Frick Middle School in Oakland.

To participate, contact Chen Yin Noah at: ChenYin.Noah@ucop.edu.

UCOP Cares is a new initiative within the UC Office of the President, developed by staff who are interested in contributing their time, talent, donations, and labor as volunteers in service to our local community.

As enthusiastic supporters of community gardens, group members can’t think of a better way to usher in Earth Day’s Global Days of Service (April 17 & 18), celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day.

The school has four raised beds, so UCOP Cares is looking for about 20 volunteers total. The project is expected to take roughly four hours, with volunteers working alongside students, teachers, social workers, counselors and other adult helpers during the school’s Counseling Enriched Special Day Class.
