July 13 Brown Bag: Using social media to advance your UC career

The University of California President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women and the UC Office of the President Staff Assembly invite you to share your brown‐bag lunch with OP colleagues and hear a presentation on using social media (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) to advance your UC career. The event will be held on Tuesday, July 13th, at 12 p.m. in Franklin Building 5320. You may also listen in via conference call at 866-740-1260. Enter access code 987-0685.

The presentation will be provided by Carolyn Robertson, the vice president of management services for Right Management, the world’s largest talent and career management consulting firm. Participants will learn how social media can provide a rich source of information on “who”, “what” and “where” that may lead to new sources of information, collaboration, and UC career opportunities.

Learn about:

  • LinkedIn profile completeness
  • Expanding your connections
  • Handling recommendations
  • Joining groups
  • Attending events
  • Posting tweets on Twitter
  • Status updates

The presentation will be of particular interest to those currently using LinkedIn — but not optimizing it. Anyone new to social media will also benefit.

This sounds like a great presentation. Unfortunately, I have a conflict for this time. Will the presentation be saved so that those of us who can’t make it or would like to listen again can access it later?

    Hi, Sally –

The organizers are working to make a tape recording of the presentation available, via Ready Talk. We’ll post information in Link on how to access that once its available. Thanks for asking.
