Did you know that the recent winter storms back east have resulted in the cancellation of more than 18,000 blood donations? Even the robust Red Cross national inventory management system, which moves blood to where it’s needed most, is feeling the pinch.

UCOP’s 2011 blood drives begin on Wednesday, Feb. 23. With our sunny spring weather here in California, let’s make up for the lack of blood in other parts of the country by participating.

Thank you to those who have given in the past, and please sign up again. For those who have not donated before, please join us this month. And consider asking your co-workers, friends and family members who work in the area to do the same.

Appointments are available throughout the day and generally take about one hour. Here are the details:
