Wellness series: relieve tension and anxiety in your life
Feeling stressed out? Join us for “Effective Ways to Relieve Tension and Anxiety in Your Life” on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 12 to 1 p.m. in 712 Kaiser Building.
Learning how to relax is known to decrease stress at work and at home. Dr. Winifred Lum will talk about the benefits of meditation and teach participants how to incorporate simple stress-relieving strategies into their lives.
Participants will learn the basics of progressive muscle relaxation, a technique for alternately tensing and relaxing the muscles. Basic breathing techniques that can help create a deepened sense of relaxation, such as energizing breath and using spontaneous images, will be demonstrated.
Dr. Lum is a counselor at the UCSF Faculty and Staff Assistance Program. She provides confidential counseling, assessment and referral services for personal or work-related issues.
