Take charge of your career with this two-part class
Employees at UCOP are encouraged to develop a personal strategy for planning and implementing their career goals and objectives. Career Development, the two-part course offered by UCOP’s HR Learning and Development, provides you with the tools to do just that.
The courses take place mornings on Aug. 9 and 23, and the first session is a prerequisite for session 2. Here are the details:
Career Management, Session 1
- Date: Thursday, Aug. 9
- Time: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Location: 5320 Franklin
Topics include managing change; self-evaluation through performing assessments of skills, personal preferences and values; development planning for both short- and long-term goals; and resume writing, including types of resumes, appropriate content, format and how best to convey past experience.
Career Management, Session 2
- Date: Thursday, Aug. 23
- Time: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Location: 5320 Franklin
This session builds on the first session, which is a prerequisite. Topics include the do’s and don’ts of interviewing and how to prepare; identifying networking opportunities, both online and in person, and why networking is important to your career; critiquing of one another’s resumes to get valuable feedback; and practice job interviews.
Register for this series through the UC Learning Center:
- Log in using your UCOP login and password.
- Using the Search box on the left, type in the name of the class you want; that will bring up Results of Search.
- Click the session you want, then click on the Register box and Submit.
