Upcoming classes: Difficult people, effective meetings
UCOP HR Learning and Development presents two practical classes for the workplace: Working with Difficult People and Conducting Effective Meetings, both half-day classes from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Franklin building. See more details below.
Working with Difficult People, Thursday, Nov. 8, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 9204 Franklin
Join leadership coach and facilitator Raj Kapur for this class, which will give you new tools for working with difficult colleagues in the workplace.
Success in dealing with difficult people begins with understanding how we behave and impact others. Planning for and approaching challenging people with effective communication tools and techniques can lead to more positive outcomes and help you turn difficult situations into opportunities for growth. You will learn the benefits of confrontation and how to deal with anger, as well as a three-step conflict-resolution model.
Conducting Effective Meetings, Thursday, Nov. 15, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 10325 Franklin
UCOP facilitator Elaine Schilling teaches this class for individuals who spend a large percentage of their work day in meetings. To manage this important expenditure of time and resources, meeting leaders need to effectively manage both information and interactions among meeting participants and/or team members.
This session offers tips for preparing for effective meetings, keeping meetings focused and on track, encouraging balanced participation and creating effective action plans.
