Take Charge career program applications close Nov. 30
If you are interested in participating in Take Charge, the new UCOP program designed specifically to meet the unique professional development needs of administrative and support staff, act now! Applications are due by 5 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 30.
Take Charge: Developing a Career Strategy is seeking applications from UCOP administrative and support staff who want to better direct and manage their careers.
The six-month program will run from January through June 2013 and offer workshops in managing up, self-promotion, negotiating, self-assessment, resume writing, networking and interviewing skills. Also included are self-guided assignments and peer mentoring sessions.
Inspiration for Take Charge came from the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW), which is cosponsoring the program with UCOP Local HR Learning & Development. Administrative and support staff are a critical segment of the OP workforce, program organizers said, but until now there has never been a professional development program tailored to their needs.
All eligible administrative and support staff are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have the support of their supervisors as a part of the application process. For the 2013 pilot session, up to 30 individuals will be selected to participate.
More details about the program, including details on participant eligibility, application forms and FAQs, are available on the Take Charge website.
