Migration to SharePoint 2010 now complete
Information Technology Services (ITS) is pleased to announce that the migration of all UCOP SharePoint sites to SharePoint 2010 has been successfully completed.
Departmental users will now benefit from the enhanced functionality provided by SharePoint 2010, including a single URL for both UCOP and campus users, improved search capabilities and additional content management features.
SharePoint is a Microsoft web application that enables you to organize and share documents with members of your project teams. It is a key tool that many UCOP departments are using to support their work goals.
Courses in Fundamentals of SharePoint 2010 are being offered through the UC Learning Center on Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Thursday, April 25, 2013. The class offers an excellent overview of the SharePoint 2010 interface and demonstrates how to manage libraries and lists. Sign up now, as these full-day classes fill up early.
In the meantime, if you would like to explore other learning resources, check out the SharePoint 2010 tutorial for beginners or the course offered by lynda.com (enrollment fee required), SharePoint 2010 Getting Started.
ITS would like to acknowledge the many departmental SharePoint site administrators and users for their support and patience through the migration. Their assistance in testing and validating the new version was a key factor in its success.
Thanks also to ITS SharePoint team members Jaymeson Beck, Hank Moreira, Latha Srinivasagopalan, Ed Weill and Project Manager Bob Lamoreaux for their efforts.
