Embracing Change: Check out new class for tips on coping with change
Change is a constant everywhere these days, and UCOP is no exception.
Some people see change as an opportunity for growth, to learn about new things and shift the status quo. But some changes are challenging to adjust to, leading to resistance and anger.
So how do you learn to go with the flow and develop a positive attitude of change-readiness?
You might want to check out a new half-day workshop, brought to you by UCOP Learning and Development and facilitated by Raj Kapur. The class, Embracing Change, meets Thursday, Feb. 7, 1 to 5 p.m. in 5320 Franklin.
Kapur, president of the Center for Project Management, regularly facilitates learning and development workshops at UCOP, including Influencing Without Authority, Working with Difficult People and the three-part series in Project Management.
Here, he will share tips on how you can work and cope with change and help those around you do the same. The class offers concrete steps to make change more palatable by understanding people’s hesitation, enlisting the help of others, setting up plans and managing stressors. These steps can also ensure that desired changes are implemented successfully.
To enroll, go to the UC Learning Center and log in with your UCOP user name and password. Search for the class title and click register next to the class, then submit.
