Women We Admire March 11: Meet UC Berkeley’s Josefina Baltodano

Join UC Berkeley educator and administrator Josefina Castillo Baltodano, J.D., on Monday, March 11, 12 to 1 p.m. in Franklin Lobby 1 Conference Room, the next event in the Women We Admire series of talks sponsored by the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women.
With more than 20 years of experience at UC Berkeley, Baltodano is now senior associate for external relations at Berkeley’s Center for Studies in Higher Education and founding executive director of its Executive Leadership Academy (ELA).
The ELA is a five-day, intensive training for higher education administrators and faculty from across the country and worldwide who are interested in preparing themselves for high-level appointments such as provosts, presidents and chancellors. Now in its third year, the 2013 ELA is coming up later this month at Berkeley’s Claremont Hotel.
Baltodano has also held positions at Marian University in Wisconsin, where, as president, she initiated five new schools and hired their founding deans; Alliant International University in Alhambra, California, where she served as university professor and executive vice president for Strategic Planning and Advancement; and John F. Kennedy University, in Pleasant Hill, California, where she was dean and professor of the School of Management and vice president for University Research.
She also serves on the Higher Education Resource Services Board of Directors, the University of Wisconsin System President’s Council on Diversity and the Board of Directors of the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, among other organizations. She is the chair of the Alameda Health System Foundation.
The President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women initiated the Women We Admire speaker series in 2009 to bring women to UCOP from around the system to share insights about their careers, workplace challenges and work–life balance.
