New Weight Watchers @ UCOP session begins March 19
Weight Watchers is a great way to lose weight or just learn some new habits to help you live a healthier lifestyle.
So says Allison Woodall, managing counsel for labor and employment in UCOP’s Office of General Counsel, who took part in the winter session that wraps up this week. She’s planning to stick with the program when the spring session kicks off Tuesdays at noon beginning March 19.
“Probably the biggest change I’ve made is to bring apples and oranges into the office to snack on in the afternoon, instead of going down to the vending machine for a bag of chips or a candy bar,” Woodall said.
Since she started the 17-week program right before Thanksgiving, Woodall has dropped 30 pounds, and she’s not alone. The group of 26 participating in the winter session shed a total of 236.4 pounds, despite starting right before the holidays, the year’s most indulgent season.
“With a full-time job and three small kids, having the meetings at work has really kept me on track,” Woodall said. “It’s convenient, I get support from my colleagues, and I’ve gotten to meet a few new people, too.”
The spring session takes place Tuesdays, 12 to 1 p.m. at the Franklin building, from March 19 through July 9. (Check the Link online calendar for location, as meeting rooms change from week to week.) Cost is $186 per participant and includes weekly meetings, e-tools for online tracking, advice and recipes.
No registration is required. Just show up at the first meeting or contact OP Staff Assembly Chair Jeanie Urban at jeanie.urban@ucop.edu if you have questions.
The program is sponsored by the OP Staff Assembly.
