10-second bio: Meet Brendan O’Callaghan, External Relations Ironman
Title: Executive Communications Coordinator
Department/unit: External Relations/Public Affairs
Location: 12th floor, Franklin building
When I started working at UCOP: June 2013
What I do for UCOP in five words or less: News clips, research and write.
The best part about working for OP: Working on a team with incredibly intelligent and engaged individuals.
Something you don’t know about me: I completed an Ironman distance triathlon at the end of July. The event consists of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile (full marathon) run. Perhaps the hardest part of the whole event was walking up and down stairs the next day.
One weird fact about the town I grew up in: San Francisco has quite a few quirky facts; most aren’t much of a secret. A little bit of local knowledge, though, for those of you who get lost driving around the city: It’s Pine St. to the Pacific, Bush St. to the Bay, Oak St. to Oakland and Fell St. to the Farallones. Keep those main arteries in mind and you’ll find your destination eventually.
If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now), I would: I’d love to be a professional triathlete for a year or two. The idea of getting paid to train and compete sounds pretty awesome to me!
