10-second bio: Meet Kristen Ingels: Saranap born with Mexican roots
Name: Kristen Ingels
Title: Marketing Communications Coordinator
Department/Unit: External Relations/Communications
Location: 7th floor, Franklin
When I started working at UCOP: May 2013
What I do for UCOP in five words or less: Build public awareness of UC
The best part about working for OP: I love that I have the opportunity to represent the entire UC system, not just one campus.
Something you don’t know about me: I spent my childhood summers in my mom’s hometown of Durango, Mexico. I was lucky enough to get to know many distinct regions of Mexico and also worked at the family business, Cremería Wallander (Wallander is my mom’s maiden name).
One weird fact about the town I grew up in: I grew up in Saranap, which is technically an unincorporated area between Walnut Creek and Lafayette. Walnut Creek is the designated city name for mail purposes, but I went to Lafayette schools.
If I could have any job in the world (besides the one I have now) I would be: I would be a wedding planner who doesn’t have to work with bridezillas.
¡Viva Mexico! Friends from Durango would tell me how nice that area is. If you ever get the opportunity, you should visit Guanajuato, GTO — nice, colonial atmosphere.
