Oakland Running Festival this weekend: Run qualifies for Living Well points
If you’re a runner and haven’t yet registered for the Oakland Running Festival, you still have time to sign up for the event this weekend.
All UCOP employees and their families and friends are invited to walk, run or volunteer. You can get a discount on the registration fee and, if you’re eligible for the UC Living Well Program, you can record the completion of this wellness activity and earn 2500 points toward your incentive. (See more below.)
Running Festival events include a 5k run, half-marathon, marathon and team relay on Sunday, March 23. As part of UCOP’s Charity Partnership with the Oakland Running Festival, discounted registration is available for runners. Be sure to get the unique UCOP discount code before you register to take advantage of the discount; contact Brendan O’Callaghan for the code or if you have any questions at brendan.ocallaghan@ucop.edu.
How to claim your points for running the Oakland Running Festival
In order to claim your points for the March 23 run or other wellness activities, go online to the UC Living Well website and select the I want/I get button. Simply explore the site or find out more from the Feb. 3 Link story.
Now in its fifth year, the festival drew more than 9,000 runners in 2013 and was voted the best marathon in the Pacific West by readers of Competitor Magazine. The race, which takes place Sunday, March 23, features aid stations and live music throughout the courses in downtown Oakland. It’s a great opportunity for new and veteran runners and walkers alike to participate with UCOP in this fun community event.
The day before the run, Saturday, March 22, there will be an exposition at the Oakland Marriott City Center, where runners can pick up their race packets and find fitness, running and health care industry vendors. UCOP volunteers are also needed to staff the expo and support the UCOP runners and walkers. There is a way for everyone to participate.
So challenge yourself and earn bragging rights. Register through the festival website, but don’t register until you have the code, because you can’t apply the discount after you register.
