Comments invited on Employee-Initiated Reduction In Time (ERIT) program

UC is proposing to renew the Employee-Initiated Reduction In Time (ERIT) program, an optional tool that locations and organizational units may choose to implement as a cost savings resource.

The program allows eligible career staff, except those in the Senior Management Group, to voluntarily reduce their current appointment percentage and corresponding pay, which will allow the university to achieve temporary salary savings. In exchange, employees receive certain advantages, such as accrual of vacation and sick leave at the pre-ERIT rates.

The proposal is to renew the program for a three-year period, effective July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2017.

You can find a complete description of the revised ERIT program proposal online. UCOP employees who wish to provide comments may submit them to Employee and Labor Relations Manager Michael Lum at Michael.Lum@ucop.edu by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
