Join UCOP’s mentorship celebration this Thursday, July 24
Celebrate the success of UCOP’s Mentorship Program and see for yourself what the mentorship experience is all about on Thursday, July 24, 3 to 5 p.m. on the Franklin fifth floor patio. (Click on link to add events to your calendar.)
At the mentorship celebration, the 2013–14 mentors and mentees will wrap up their experience and share what they found to be valuable about the program with anyone interested in learning more or participating this year as either a mentee or mentor. Refreshments will be served.
The program provides a supportive structure for UCOP employees to cultivate contacts, explore challenges and enhance their effectiveness as they grow both personally and professionally.
The 2014 program will launch in the coming weeks, with applications due Friday, Aug. 15, and mentees announced by Friday, Aug. 22. There will be additional opportunities to learn more at three brown bag sessions next month (all sessions 12 to 1 p.m.):
- Wednesday, Aug. 6, 10325 Franklin
- Thursday, Aug. 7, 612 Kaiser
- Monday, Aug. 11, 415 20th St., room 302
Inspired four years ago by UCOP staff input and trends on college campuses and companies nationwide, the program builds about 25 mentor–mentee pairings each year.
Mentees use the opportunity to gather information, develop peer support, learn more about management and better understand the organizational culture of UCOP. The one-on-one relationships officially take place for 10 months but have the potential to enrich careers and create enduring friendships.
Excellent article; kudos to UCOP for its ongoing support of the mentorship program and to the author of the article, Patti Meagher! Cheers!
