This Wednesday: How to keep your identity and data safe
Data breaches at Target and Home Depot. Even at big banks like JP Morgan Chase. How can you keep your identity and data safe from hackers online and still remember all those different passwords?
To get some answers from an expert, spend an hour with UCOP’s Chief Information Security Officer David Rusting at his upcoming talk on cyber security and identity theft, this Wednesday, Oct. 29, 12 to 1 p.m. in 10325 Franklin.
Rusting will cover topics like the current state of cyber crime and identity theft and how you can reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim. He will also give you tips for how to protect your data as well as UC’s data on your work devices. There will also be time for Q&A.
Rusting joined UCOP in February from UCSF, where he served as chief information security officer for four years. There he guided the information security program and implemented data loss prevention, mobile device encryption standards and a monthly cyber-security awareness campaign.
BTW, this conversation all started with a comment about identity theft on UCOP Connect, UCOP’s LinkedIn network for exchanging information and ideas. Next thing you know, OP Staff Assembly invited Rusting to give a presentation on the topic. If you’re not already a member, check it out.
