Oakland Thanksgiving: Volunteer or donate to get into the spirit of giving
Get into the season of giving!
UCOP will be participating in the City of Oakland’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Coat Giveaway, Tuesday, Nov. 25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oakland Marriott City Center, corner of 11th St. and Broadway.
Now in its 23rd year, the event serves Oakland seniors, low-income families and the homeless. You can participate by either volunteering at the event or donating to the drive, or both, as follows:
Volunteer
UCOP is sending a delegation of staff to volunteer at the Nov. 25 event by helping to serve dinner to guests from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Twenty-six volunteers are needed. If you’re interested, please contact Michael Kusiak at Michael.Kusiak@ucop.edu or 510-987-0659 no later than noon, Thursday, Nov. 20.
Donate
Donate new or gently used coats and jackets, which will be passed out to guests at the Nov. 25 event. A bin will be placed in the Franklin lobby this week for collecting coats; please bring your donation in no later than noon on Monday, Nov. 24.
Donations by check or money order can also be made to the City of Oakland Hunger Program and mailed or delivered to Chrishelle Chatman, Department of Human Services, 150 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Suite 4340, Oakland, CA 94612.
