Asian Pacific Islander Staff holds holiday potluck on Dec. 17
If you haven’t yet heard about APISA, the Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association, now is a good time to get acquainted with UCOP’s newest staff affinity group.
APISA meets the third Wednesday of each month, and this week they are hosting a holiday potluck for their final meeting of the year, Wednesday, Dec. 17, noon to 1 p.m. in Franklin 9204. (Click on link to add to your calendar.)
If you are an Asian-Pacific American, an Asian-Pacific Islander or just interested in Asian issues, you’re invited to join the group and attend the potluck. Be sure to bring a dish that will serve six to eight people.
To celebrate the holidays, the group is partnering with the Bay Area Rescue Mission in Richmond, a local organization that provides shelters for homeless men, women and children, to collect donations of food and other items most needed by their residents, including:
- Canned meats like tuna and chicken
- Canned vegetables and fruit
- Flour, cornmeal, oatmeal and pancake batter
- Dried foods like pasta and beans
- White and brown sugar, powdered milk
- Cooking oil, vinegars and condiments
- Bedding
- Personal toiletry kits (normal and travel sizes)
- Cleaning and janitorial supplies
- See a complete list
Donations can be delivered through this Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, to Belinda Vea (9136 Franklin) or Becky Thipavong (6052 Kaiser). All items are tax deductible and a tax ID will be provided after all donations are delivered. Donors will be entered into the APISA Holiday Potluck Raffle for holiday gift baskets.
