Nomination deadline for Innovation & Impact Awards extended to Feb. 20

President Napolitano and Jeanie Urban

Jeanie Urban was among the UCOP staffers recognized with last year’s Innovation and Impact Award.

There’s still time to nominate your staff or a colleague for the Office of the President Innovation and Impact Awards!

The deadline for 2014 nominations has been extended to 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20.

The Office of the President Innovation and Impact Award program began three years ago to recognize employees and/or teams of employees for exemplary service. Any OP employee can submit a nomination for any level of staff (except the Senior Management Group). If you’re wondering whether you can submit an Innovation and Impact Award nomination for an employee who also received a STAR award, the answer is yes. Employees can be recognized under both programs, and the Innovation and Impact Award is another opportunity to celebrate their great work.

From among 24 individual and team nominations, last year’s Innovation and Impact Awards honored nine OP staffers representing a wide range of achievement across UCOP. Nominations are invited for individuals or teams in three categories:

  • Advancing the Mission recognizes leadership in efforts that serve the good of UC and/or UCOP. The impact may be monetary, organizational, process-oriented or technological.
  • Commitment to OP Culture and Principles recognizes commitment to upholding UCOP’s principles of community and inclusion, promotion of service in the environment or contributing to improvement in morale.
  • Connecting with the Community recognizes volunteer efforts and service in a nonprofit community-based organization, resulting in meaningful impact on the community or its residents.

Full details and guidelines on how to submit nominations are available on the OP Innovation and Impact Awards website. Note that there are separate forms for individual and team nominations.

A selection committee will deliver a list of recommended awardees for final approval to UC President Janet Napolitano. The committee will include representatives from among past award winners and staff organizations. Contact Sherry Perocier in OP Local Human Resources at Sherry.Perocier@ucop.edu, if you have questions about the program.

Presentation of this year’s awards will take place at the semi-annual Service Award Milestone ceremony on April 29, 2015.
