Celebrating our community: Rhoderick Broughton
Broughton has been securing UCOP’s doors and protecting its employees since 2009, and became the security team supervisor in 2010.
When he’s not greeting staff, helping visitors find their way to meetings or monitoring activity in and around the building, Broughton lives with two dogs, Charlie and Bishop, and some 300 pairs of shoes. In fact, his footwear obsession has led him to travel the United States to buy limited edition shoes and to start a resale business. If you would like some tips on buying or maintaining shoes, you now know who to ask!
While Broughton is light-hearted and usually all smiles, he takes the safety and security of UCOP workers seriously. He urges all employees to be aware of their surroundings at all times (no texting or checking email while walking down the street), take advantage of the security escort service (7-9790) when working late and register for UCOP Alert, OP’s emergency notification system.
This article, sponsored by UCOP Staff Assembly Communications Advisory Subcommittee, is the first in a series about celebrating the people of the UCOP community. We welcome suggestions for future articles at UCfeedback@ucop.edu.
