Office 365 update
Information Technology Services (ITS) will begin the rollout of Microsoft Office 365, a new cloud-based email and calendaring system, at UCOP on Sept. 12. A group of 70 employees is piloting the product already, in preparation for the rollout. All migrations are scheduled to be completed on Oct. 17.
New functions include encryption on-demand and, in the Outlook Web Application (OWA) only, instant messaging.
ITS will provide user guides, initial setup instructions and a walkthrough of OWA before your migration, which will explain what you can expect and show you how to get active on OWA. Watch your email.
About a week before your transition to Office 365, ITS will enable caching on all machines to be migrated that week. This may result in a slight delay while your email loads from cache. Otherwise, you won’t experience any down time.

By moving to a cloud-based system, UCOP will reduce the cost of email support and storage.
