UC campuses ranked high for entrepreneurship
University of California campuses, routinely ranked among the best academic institutions in the country, can add entrepreneurship to their lists of accolades.
AffordableSchools.net named five UC campuses to its top 50 Most Entrepreneurial Schools in America, a list of universities that provide an environment that spawns new businesses.
UC Berkeley ranked second to Stanford on the list, a reflection of the schools’ close ties and physical proximity to the high-tech hubs of Silicon Valley and San Francisco.
UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Irvine and UC Davis also made the top 50.
In compiling the rankings, AffordableSchools.net assessed the average rankings of a university’s graduate computer science and MBA programs, the average earnings of its graduates and the institution’s metro area ranking for entrepreneurial activity.
AffordableSchools.net said ranked colleges have support networks for entrepreneurial activity and often have business incubators to help move new technologies from the lab to the marketplace.
