Corrine Jan, CEO of Family Bridges and a longtime advocate for the care needs of seniors, will share her insights on the topic “Asian Pacific Islander Elderly Health Care — Promoting Aging in Place.” Hosted by the Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association (APISA) and Family Resources Network affinity groups, this presentation is open to all UCOP staff. It will cover a wide range of topics related to elder care and advocating for the elderly.

Jan earned a bachelor’s degree at UC Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree and public health certificate in nursing at UCSF.

In 1991, she served as a nurse and program development consultant for Family Bridges Inc., an Oakland-based nonprofit organization that serves the healthcare and social services needs of 10,000 low-income, mostly monolingual Asian clients each year. In 1996, she became CEO of the organization. She is passionate about advocating for the long-term care needs of the elderly as well as Asian immigrants’ rights, equal access and public safety.

Her past and current commitment to community volunteering has spanned a variety of areas including the city of Oakland Neighborhood Law Corps, Asian Advisory Committee on Crime, Oakland Asian Cultural Center, California Association of Adult Day Services, National Adult Day Services Association and the city of Oakland Mayor’s Commission on Aging.
