FRIDAY: Webinar on Diversity Data: An analysis of California K–12 and UC demographics

From K–12 teacher shortages to free speech on campuses, diversity has been in the national spotlight recently. How do UC diversity leaders respond to the current landscape? What are some enduring best practices for advancing academic equity and access for all students?

To address these issues, UCOP’s Diversity and Engagement department is launching a new 2017–18 webinar series that will present distinguished speakers on a range of pressing issues facing educators. The series launches with the presentation “Diversity Data: An analysis of California K–12 and UC demographics” to be held:

Presenters: Elizabeth Halimah, associate vice provost, UCOP Diversity and Engagement; and Ryan Chan, senior research & planning analyst, UCOP Institutional Research and Academic Planning.

The webinar that will provide an overview of demographics in California and at UC, focusing specifically on the academic pipeline for two persistently underrepresented groups. The speakers will present a data-supported exploration of how California’s African-American and Chicano/Latino students move across the public education continuum. The webinar will also include an overview of the UC Information Center.
