Stigma-Free UC webinar: Suicide — Understanding and Eliminating Stigma
Did you know that suicide is the second leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 10 and 34? Approximately 45,000 lives are lost annually from suicide in the U.S. — more than double the lives lost from homicide.
More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza and chronic lung disease, combined. Four out of five teens who attempt suicide have given clear warning signs, but those warning signs can be difficult to detect.
Please join us for a webinar discussion of the stigma surrounding suicide and how it gets in the way of efforts to help survivors and those at risk. Learn strategies for reducing stigma and boosting suicide prevention efforts, to help us work together to combat a public health crisis that has touched the lives of far too many.
