It’s time once again for the Cool Campus Challenge (CCC) — UC’s friendly competition between campuses, colleagues, students and faculty to learn who’s the coolest campus in the fight to combat climate change.

UCOP will be competing as a campus, and colleagues at all locations can compete for prizes and bragging rights. Plus, the top individual point-earners will receive solar chargers! Here are 10 great ways to participate:

1. Register at coolcampuschallenge.org
   The challenge doesn’t officially begin until April 1, but by signing up today, you’ll have a head start on day one.
2. Join a team
   Visit the “Teams” page on the CCC site, where you can join an existing team or form a new one with colleagues in your division or department.
3. Activate your network to earn points
   Invite your UCOP colleagues to take the challenge. You’ll receive 20 points for each additional sign-up!
4. Build your strategy
   Visit the challenge’s “All Actions” page for ideas on how to reduce your carbon footprint.
5. Take action and level up
   Anytime you take climate-friendly actions between April 1-26, make sure to log them to earn points! As you build upon your points throughout the month, you’ll unlock new actions. Move from Novice to Champion status.
6. Recognize your colleagues
   Are your colleagues great at going green? Visit the “All Actions” page and choose “Highlight a Hero” to recognize them. Nominees will be entered into a prize raffle and may be featured in Link. And, send a special CCC Gratitude Gram to express your admiration.
7. Get involved at UCOP
   Look out fun opportunities to participate throughout the month, including a celebration at Franklin on April 12. Join your colleagues in recognizing climate-healing actions, building your internal network and staying motivated throughout the challenge.
8. Keep learning
   What else might you learn about reducing climate impact? Seek opportunities to increase your understanding through educational videos, websites and more. Hint: Read the UC Sustainability Newsletter and follow UC Climate Solutions on Twitter, @ClimateUC.
9. Share your experience
   Collaboration is at the heart of the Cool Campus Challenge. Visit your team page to share your stories, struggles and wins and react to your colleagues’. Plus, you’ll earn 50 bonus points by livening up your stories with photos of your journey.
10. Get social
    Share your commitment with your social network beyond UCOP by posting about your efforts and tagging #CoolCampusChallenge.
