Time for another recycle purge!
Are you based in UCOP’s Oakland office? If so, make sure you’re ready for the upcoming building move. As construction continues, it’s essential for all of us to actively prepare.
On-site storage will be very limited. That means we must all evaluate our hard-copy records, then organize, store, digitize or purge them.
Participate in purge week: June 24-28
Free room in your workspace by participating in the next UCOP paper records purge week, from June 24-28. During this time, recycling bins will be available on each floor at all Oakland locations. (Please don’t put non-paper supplies — binders, CDs, etc. — into these bins. BASC will plan another event to dispose of these materials.)
How to purge your paper records
Follow these tips to ensure your records are disposed of properly:
- Purge only your own materials (not departmental records or those belonging to colleagues), unless your department has instructed you otherwise.
- Documents with personally identifiable or otherwise sensitive information must be disposed of in the locked shred bins.
- Do not discard of records that are the subject of a litigation hold or other records freeze, or that have been requested pursuant to the California Public Records Act, an investigation, an ongoing audit or another legal process.
- If you have any questions about whether records are required to be preserved for legal reasons, please contact your legal counsel at the Office of the General Counsel.
