First 2020 Town Hall inspires and engages UCOP staff

On Thursday, Jan. 30, UC President Janet Napolitano led a standing-room-only Town Hall for UCOP staff, which shed light on many important topics for the UCOP and greater UC communities. More than 800 employees participated in the event.

President Napolitano began by giving an overview of how Governor Newsom’s budget proposal will impact UC and encouraged staff to demonstrate their support for the university by joining the University of California Advocacy Network (UCAN). Sign up online now.

She highlighted many university-wide efforts that are being spearheaded at UCOP, including UC’s newest Annual Report on Sustainable Practices — which includes notable UCOP accomplishments — a 2020 Get Out the Vote campaign and 2020 Census campaign (information to be announced soon). She also encouraged employees to familiarize themselves with the recently launched UCOP Strategic Framework.

During the Q&A session, President Napolitano covered proposed updates to UC’s parental leave policies, the university’s strategy for addressing the coronavirus, her priorities for the remainder of her term as president and more.
