Would you like to strengthen your communication competency? If so, LinkedIn Learning is a fantastic place to start! Since it can be daunting to choose from the more than 13,000 course offerings, UCOP’s Learning and Development Team has been gathering insight on which are the most valuable. Check out these suggestions from your colleagues.

Business Writing Principles and Writing Email
Recommended by: Matthew Milne, Staff Accountant
Description: Lessons on how to be a more effective writer can be useful for just about anybody! I felt the courses were very good, informative one-hour lessons on proper email etiquette and business writing strategies. They provided a great refresher on some common grammar mistakes and pointers on writing more concise effective emails.

Communicating with Empathy
Recommended by: Annie Prozan, Talent and Organization Development Manager
Description: This course thoroughly explains why communicating with empathy leads to high-performing teams and organizations. Specifically, the trainer shares how to approach every person with the communication style they are most receptive to, how to give feedback with empathy, how to manage high-performing teams by building trust through using empathy, and more.

Communicating with Diplomacy and Tact
Recommended by: Gary Cheng, Senior Content Developer and Trainer
Description: This course provided good reminders about using diplomacy and tact. The instructor is a business professor and presented a very clear and research-based framework for communication. I also liked the interactive quizzes asking me to score “good,” “better” and “best” choices — they were more thought-provoking than simple “right” or “wrong” answers.
