UC benefits programs offer pandemic relief
To provide relief for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government issued rules and guidance allowing employees to make changes to their health plan coverage and providing more time to complete certain transactions.
Highlights include:
- UC Medical plans: Enroll in new coverage, change plans or coverage levels, or cancel coverage
- UC Health Savings Plan: COVID-19 testing and telehealth services are excluded from 2020 deductibles, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2020
- Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs): Add to, change or cancel 2020 participation — plus, an extended deadline to file 2019 Health FSA claims from 2019
- COBRA: More time to apply, pay for, file claims or file appeals
Eligible individuals may request changes starting June 1, 2020.
