The UC Council of Chief Diversity Officers invites you to its next Distinguished Scholars Webinar, part of a series featuring UC educators who have made significant contributions to the study of racial inequality through their research, teaching and mentorship.

On May 11, 2021, Beth Rose Middleton, Ph.D., will present her research on Native American environmental policy and Native activism for site protection. She will also discuss her training of graduate students in applying participatory action research on contemporary land claims in California.

The webinar is open to all members of the UC community and will be recorded. Dr. Middleton’s presentation will be followed by an audience question and answer session.

About the speaker

Beth Rose Middleton is a professor of Native American studies at UC Davis. In addition to her Native environmental policy research and activism for site protection, her broader research interests include intergenerational trauma and healing, rural environmental justice, indigenous analysis of climate change, Afro-indigeneity and qualitative geographic information systems (GIS).
