PACSW welcomes equity advocate Shonté Thomas of UC Riverside

The President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) has just planned the next event in its popular Women We Admire Series.

Shonté Thomas, M. Ed., Associate Dean of Students, UC Riverside Ethnic & Gender Centers

On Friday, May 21, they will welcome Shonté Thomas, M. Ed., associate dean of students for UC Riverside’s Ethnic & Gender Centers (E&Gs) and a leader in the Student Affairs Division. In her role, Shonté oversees the E&Gs, which promote personal, social, cultural and intellectual development for students. She is committed to helping students and staff cultivate community, find mentorship opportunities and build leadership skills.

Shonté began working at UC Riverside in July 2020. Prior to that, she was the director of UC Santa Cruz’s African American Resource & Cultural Center for seven years. As a scholar-practitioner, Shonté bridges theory to practice and utilize the diverse skills she has gained over two decades as an educator. She is deeply passionate about liberatory practices and work that centers on equity and inclusion. She strives to create a much-improved ecosystem for all, particularly students with minoritized identities.
