President Drake speaks with Mexican counterpart at Aspen Institute Mexico
On June 22, President Michael V. Drake, M.D., participated in a conversation with Enrique Graue Weichers, rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, during a virtual event moderated by Ambassador Enrique Berruga, CEO of the Aspen Institute Mexico.
They reflected upon the future of higher education — including the challenges and opportunities of virtual educational engagements — and the role of public research universities as society moves into the post-pandemic future. They also discussed climate change and the shifting labor market.
This was the first meeting of the “Dialogues Between Rectors” initiative promoted by the Aspen Institute Mexico with which it seeks to promote dialogue and the exchange of ideas between the main academic leaders of Mexico and the world.
