UC earns national award for diversity and inclusion efforts
On Sept. 20, UC was honored today with a 2021 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.
The award was based on UC’s strong commitment to diversity and inclusion — particularly its focus on recruiting and retaining diverse students and staff — as well as the high level of support by UC leaders for UC’s diversity and inclusion efforts.
“We strive to reflect California’s full diversity across our campuses every day. Respecting and celebrating diverse views, life experiences and backgrounds is essential to UC’s standing as a world-class institution,” said Yvette Gullatt, vice president for Graduate and Undergraduate Affairs, vice provost for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and chief diversity officer for the University of California.
