More time to use your vacation accruals: Extension through June 30, 2022
Though hopes were high for a return to normal this past summer, California continues to experience the disruptions and difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of these challenges, President Michael V. Drake, M.D., has approved a temporary extension granting more flexibility for policy-covered employees who have been unable to use their accrued vacation time.
The vacation accrual maximum in UC’s Absence from Work policy (Section III.B.5 of PPSM-2.210) was temporarily lifted last year to allow policy-covered staff more time to use their accrued vacation leave to bring their accruals below the maximum. That temporary change has now been extended through June 30, 2022.
This change applies to policy-covered staff employees, including those who earn PTO. Policy-covered staff who earn PTO should refer to their location’s PTO program for eligibility information. This does not apply to represented employees.
How it works
The extension is applied automatically through UCPath. If you are eligible, you will continue accruing vacation leave through June 30, 2022, even if you are over your usual maximum accrual.
To find your maximum accrual, log into your UCPath Online account at ucpath.universityofcalifornia.edu, then select Employee Actions > Leave Balances. Your maximum vacation accrual is displayed at the bottom of the chart.
