GUEA welcomes Dr. Lok Siu on anti-Asian hate and bias
On Feb. 10, from 12 – 1 p.m., Graduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs (GUEA) and the Office of Workplace Inclusion and Belonging (OWIB) are pleased to welcome Professor Lok Siu, Ph.D., cultural anthropologist and associate professor of ethnic studies at UC Berkeley, for a conversation on confronting anti-Asian hate and bias.
Dr. Siu is an expert in Asian diasporas and transnationalism. She will discuss how economic and capitalist structures can produce racial violence, the ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed economic and racial disparities and the role of cross-racial collaborations in combatting anti-Asian violence and exclusion.
