About UCOP Pride

UCOP Pride has a mission of providing advocacy, education and community-building for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex community, and its allies, within UCOP and beyond. Founded in 1999, this year marks the group’s 23rd year anniversary.

Pride works to cultivate an environment at UCOP and across UC where people are empowered to embrace their sexual orientation and gender identity and expression. To this end, UCOP Pride promotes equity and inclusion through knowledge and community-building events that center issues of sexuality and gender at the intersection of other identities. In addition, Pride supports and promotes events hosted by a wide variety of staff, faculty and student groups.

Join UCOP Pride for Living Authentically

UCOP Pride encourages all colleagues to attend a special event in UC Berkeley’s Critical Voices in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Program — Living Authentically: A Conversation on Supporting LGBTQIA+ Communities in Higher Education. Taking place June 8 from 2-4 p.m. (PT), this event is designed to expose employees, students and the broader educational community to the frameworks, perspectives and expertise of thought leaders and social justice practitioners.

Featured speakers include:

  • Reverend Angel Kyodo Williams — author, activist and Zen priest
  • Genny Beemyn, Ph.D. — author, LGBTQ+ educator and director of the Stonewall Center at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst
  • Robyn Henderson-Espinoza, Ph.D. — founder of the Activist Theology Project, author, researcher and LGBTQ+ activist
  • Kevin Nadal, Ph.D. — author, activist, psychology professor and researcher whose work focuses on microaggressions directed at racial/ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+ people

Billy Curtis, director of the Gender Equity Resource Center, will moderate the experience. Advance registration is required.
