President Drake approves 2022-23 salary increases

A version of this message was sent to all UCOP employees on June 30, 2022.

Dear UCOP colleagues,

As was announced on June 30, the state Legislature has passed a final state budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Based on UC’s portion of the final budget, I am pleased to tell you that President Drake has approved a 2022-23 systemwide salary program that includes a general 4.5% base salary increase for policy-covered staff, and a 4% increase for academic appointees (a Special Salary Equity Program for faculty is also included). Salary increases for union-represented employees are governed by the relevant collective bargaining agreements.

This salary program recognizes the extraordinary efforts of employees during this past year, and pay increases will take effect on July 1, 2022.

Although these salary increases are not performance-based, to be eligible you must have received a performance rating of “solid performance” or higher on your 2021-2022 performance review, and your start date must have been on or before Dec. 31, 2021.

We are working to implement this year’s salary increases as quickly as possible. Our goal is for eligible employees to see the increase reflected in their paychecks by July 20 (bi-weekly-paid employees) or August 1 (monthly-paid employees). UCOP division leaders and managers will receive additional implementation details about the 2022-23 salary program from UCOP Human Resources.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your department’s Human Resources business partner.

As always, thank you very much for your many contributions and dedication to UC and the people we serve.

Sincerely,
Nancy L. Pluzdrak, MBA, Ed.D.
Executive Director, UCOP Human Resources

Does this count for our annual merit increase? Or is this something different?

Hi Jasmine, thanks for your note. We checked with local HR and this increase is in lieu of UCOP’s regular merit-based increase process for 2022-2023. It is designed to reward eligible policy-covered staff for their efforts this past year. If you have any other questions, please contact your HR business partner.
