GROWing Your Check-In Conversations for Employees
Aug. 3, 2 – 4 p.m. | Aug. 18, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Do you need advice for having a more productive check-in schedule with your manager? Attend this two-hour virtual live workshop for an opportunity to practice using the GROW in STEP check-ins and to (Prerequisite: Completed STEP ecourses)

GROWing Your Check-In Conversations for Managers
Aug. 4, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Aug. 16, 2 – 4 p.m. | Aug. 24, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
GROWing your Check-in Conversations is a required two-hour virtual live workshop for all UCOP managers and supervisors. This workshop provides participants with an opportunity to practice using GROW in STEP Check-ins and to share tips and strategies for providing feedback. This is part of the three-year training plan designed by the Performance Appraisal workgroup made up of colleagues from across UCOP. If you have completed this requirement and would like to have a space to practice conversations with peers, try our “Coaching Labs” listed below.

Coaching Lab
Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This optional interactive session for managers and supervisors provides an opportunity to practice strategies for giving feedback with a coaching lens. Come with a real-life example to practice with your peers. (Prerequisite: Completed STEP ecourses)

UCOP Mentorship Program Information Session
Aug. 5, 1 – 1:25 p.m. | Aug. 16, 12:30 – 12:55 p.m. | Aug. 24, 9:05 – 9:30 a.m.
Come learn about the UCOP 2022-23 Mentorship Program, open to all employees who have been at UCOP for at least six months. Applications are due Aug. 31. Visit the UCOP Mentorship Program webpage for more information.

New Employee Orientation
Aug. 9, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Starting a new job or at a new location can be daunting. The UCOP New Employee Orientation is designed to facilitate a smooth transition to the organization. Topics include UC’s history, UCOP overview, tools and resources, safety and compliance.

People Leaders Forum – Onboarding New Employees
Aug. 12, 1 – 2 p.m.
People Leaders Forums are monthly opportunities for supervisors to develop leadership skills, build community, share best practices, swap strategies for navigating current challenges and learn to better support themselves and their teams. Our Aug. 12 session will focus on onboarding new employees. 

STEP for New Employees: Define Criteria
Aug. 17, 2 – 2:50 p.m.
In this instructor-led training on the Staff Talent Evaluation Process (STEP), we will expand on the materials presented in the STEP Fundamentals for Employees eCourse by going into detail on the first stage of STEP, called Define Criteria. You will practice writing goals, review strategies for choosing focus competencies and discuss personal change management.

Delivery Skills for Connecting with Your Audience
Aug. 18, 1 – 3 p.m.
Whether you’re presenting to your team, internal clients, students or campus partners, how you share your information matters. This interactive workshop will help you make presentations a success. Learn to identify common presentation and public-speaking anxieties and how to prepare for and overcome them; explore presentation styles and techniques to keep your audience engaged; and discover new tips and tricks to make your presentations stand out! Bring a recent presentation, outline or idea to practice and workshop during this class.

Smartsheet Fundamentals
Aug. 25 & 26, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Smartsheet licenses are available to all UCOP employees. This two-part class helps newer users gain a foundational understanding of this collaboration tool, including tracking projects and information for better teamwork.

Making Connections in a Hybrid World
Aug. 31, 1 – 2 p.m.
Connection is a crucial component in building engagement, and a productive and efficient workplace. It is widely noted that when people feel connected, healthy working relationships that foster collaboration improve. Come to this interactive workshop to experience and learn some of the tools and techniques that can support your connections in this remote and hybrid world. Bring ideas to share!
