Help out with the new UCOP Oakland community garden

Photos in above slideshow are from the newly rebuilt Oakland community garden.

Do you want to learn more about growing your own food?  Would you like to meet colleagues while harvesting summer veggies?  Are you ready to take a break from your desk and step out into the sunshine?

Come check out UCOP’s Oakland community garden, located on the 5th-floor patio of the Franklin/Broadway campus for all staff to enjoy. Founded by the President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW) in 2018 and rebuilt as part of the new building project, the garden was planted in June with tomatoes, eggplant, tomatillos, cucumbers, beans, zinnias, sunflowers, Genovese and Thai basils, thyme, blueberries, pineapple sage and squash.

Come to a gardening session — gloves and tools provided — on the 5th-floor patio:

  • Thursday, Aug. 25, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 28, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 13, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

Or, feel free to stop by anytime to gather some produce for your next meal.
